PHILOSOPHY

Most pilots enjoy not only the beauty, freedom and opportunities that flying affords but they also look forward to the challenges that they may encounter. AFTII strives to provide the training that prepares pilots for the events normally encountered in flight and for the challenges that they will face. Knowing that they are prepared for these challenges enables them to fly with confidence.

We instruct pilots on the proper operation of their aircraft’s systems including the efficient and safe use of its navigation, flight instrumentation and autopilot systems. We also teach how to fly the aircraft safely when one or more of these systems fail. (Weight and balance and performance, of course, are also a part of our training.

Our motto is – “Training for pilots who take flying seriously”.
If you desire excellent training designed to increase your knowledge and improve your skills, we encourage you to call AFTII for your initial (transition) or recurrent training.

IN-AIRCRAFT TRAINING

All of our flight training is conducted in the client’s aircraft. In-aircraft training allows the pilot to learn where each switch in his airplane is and what each switch does. It allows him to feel the real airplane, to learn how to use its installed communication, navigation, flight instrumentation and autopilot systems. It also enables him to understand the capability and limitations of these systems. Pilots learn how to conduct a thorough preflight of the actual airplane. During in-aircraft training there is no “I wonder how the actual airplane would have performed in that scenario” questioning. Full motion simulators can’t come to you; you have to travel to them. I doubt that you enjoy traveling by airlines to get to and return from simulator training.

That being said, AFTII does use downloaded Garmin 430/530 “simulators” on our computers to help pilots understand the capabilities of these fine navigation and communications instruments.

AFTII conducts a majority of our training at the client’s home base in a setting that he is comfortable with which helps the learning process. If you completed recurrent training last time in a simulator environment, we recommend that you conduct your next training with AFTII.
